Welcome to the Wargames Wednesday update for this week. First, let's revisit my swamp project. As you'll recall, my Woodland Scenics version (referred to as swamp #1) came out pretty well and you'll see pictures of it on the board in a bit. Swamp #2, which started off with AK Products Swamp Gel needed an overhaul, which amounted to me pouring the WS water over the gel.
Here's Swamp #2 with the WS water over it and flock added. I've also added the "muddy ground" -- another AK product.
Overall, it turned out OK. I still have the static grass to add around the edges and probably parts of the middle.
Another top-down view.
So the swamps are the final terrain pieces for my battle of Wartenburg game. I previously posted some terrain pics, but now have the deployment done. I've also tweaked the terrain a little bit, because there were some things I didn't like the look of.
This is the French right. Those are Wurttemburgers in the village, with their cavalry to the rear. The Prussians can be seen lined up in the distance.
The French center, held by the Italians. Instead of covering the road, I added some of my flexible hedges to it, which looks much better.
And the French left, which is actually made up of Frenchmen.
Here's a partial shot of Swamp #1. I thought I had posted other pics of the completed swamp, but apparently I had not, so this will have to suffice.
The Prussian right...
Another view of the Prussian center-right. That's Wartenburg at the top.

Prussian left II -- those are the Wurttemburgers in the village at the top.
A closer look at the French allies.
A Blucher's-eye view looking ahead.
A Blucher's-eye view looking slightly to the left.
And here we have Marshal Bertrand's view looking to the left...
And to the right.
And for 1 million Small World Productions bonus points (redeemable at any Pan Am Airline ticket counter), can anyone guess what the tall object is on the horizon? (Scroll down for the answer)
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
ANSWER: It's Perry's Monument on Lake Erie, commemorating his victory over the British fleet. This picture is taken from Put-in-Bay, Ohio, located on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. Hoping to score a tourism ad from the state of Ohio, here are some other shots taken last weekend (it was Oktoberfest -- highly recommended!)
In the summer, these marinas are packed with boats, with many rafting off of each other because there isn't always enough space.
All the white buoys are tie-off points for boats. A little water taxi runs among all the boats to take people ashore -- and back.
That's Lonz's Winery on Middle Bass island in the distance. It's been closed for years. A tragic accident killed several people years ago when a large patio area collapsed into the basement.
So if you make it to Ohio because of this blog, be sure to tell everyone at the Pan Am counter that "Small World Productions sent me."
